Orientations and Training
The staff of the ERC provides orientations and on-going assistance for education students and classes. All materials can be accessed via our website. Within the ERC there is wireless access to the internet as well as desktop computer availability. Other services include document scanning, photocopying, laminating, and transparency preparation.
With a priority given to education faculty and students, the ERC makes available any materials appropriate for use in classrooms or for preparation for entering the classroom. The ERC has curriculum materials, both print and electronic, plus a wide selection of textbooks which are kept up-to-date for perusal and use. A large collection of children’s and young adults books are augmented by the review copies of newly released books in the Book Review Room. The ERC’s standardized test collection is the largest in the state. Special attention has been given to special education materials as well as assistive technology equipment. Equipment, such as digital cameras, laptops, and individual smart boards are available for circulation. Faculty members also frequently place materials on reserve for their classes.
School Library Media Program
Coordination of the School Library Media Program is through the ERC. This is a nationally recognized NCATE-AASL reviewed & approved school library media education program. Either pursuing a master’s of instruction with a concentration in school library media or via a course of study for school library media (for those already with a master’s degree), these educators are grounded in best practices meeting standards of the American Association of School Librarians. Since the National Board Certification became available to school librarians in Delaware, thirteen of the twenty-three NBCT have been graduates of our program.
