What is RSS?
RSS is a technology that is used to keep track of the blogs that you enjoy reading all in one place, and to notify you when one of your blogs has a new post. This avoids you, the user, having to manually go to each blog to check for new posts. If you find a blog that you would like to follow, you can add its RSS feed to your RSS feed reader, and the next time a post is added to that blog, you will receive a notification when you open your RSS feed reader. If you have email notifications set up in your feed reader, you will also be notified via email that one of the blogs that you follow has a new post.
What is an RSS Feed Reader?
The first thing you will need to do if you want to follow blogs using RSS is to find a good RSS Feed Reader. These programs work similar to email programs in that once you set them up, you would check them regularly for any new notifications about blogs that you follow. There are many feed readers out there with different features. Some browsers come with an RSS Feed Reader already installed, or one available to install as an addon to the browser (such as Chrome).
